<p>So right now I have a 13-inch Macbook Pro, about a year or two old. I really do love it, especially the uncluttered interface and long battery life, but I’ve been extremely clumsy and it now has a few hefty dents and a case of the wobbly screen, as well as a defective battery that needs to be serviced (few hundred dollars since my warranty expired). What would be a good replacement if it craps out? (there was a huge change in my financial situation this year and I’m trying to trim down all my costs, meaning the pricetag for a new mac is out of the question)
Quick facts: In Fall of this year I’m starting college in a writing-intensive major. Normally I use my macbook (heavily) for music and movies (LOVE the glossy screen), but as far as gaming mostly low-res rpg freewares, when I have the time(rarely). I’ve owned 4 laptops before, a hitachi (hand-me-down with cracked screen), then two dells, then a macbook 13 (plastic started peeling, got extremely outdated). The first 3 were Windows 1997-XP and the dells were unusable within about a year (software issues- I honestly did not drop any of these as they were used like desktops), so I have an extreme aversion to anything microsoft (though to be honest I haven’t tried windows vista- anyone care to give their thoughts?). Considered using ubuntu but I have no experience with it.
Must haves: 2 USB drives, would prefer a firewire port too
