Hey everyone, I’m taking Macroeconomics this semester but… I’m not sure which text book(s) I’m suppose to buy. I checked BU’s Barnes and Noble website but it tells me this:

Titles that are designated as “Package Component” are components of a required package used for your course. If you would like to purchase the entire package, please select it. If however, you plan using only pieces of the package, some or all may be available individually. If you purchase only package components, you may save money if used is available. Be careful you dont buy both.

Then it shows me two books:

Macroeconomics by Hubbard. (Ed. 2 '09) which is REQUIRED
and

Macroeconomics by Hubbard. (Ed. 2 '08) which is a PACKAGE COMPONENT

Am I suppose to buy both? Or am I suppose to just buy one of them. I’m very confused! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

What is the course number?

Fall '09 on Campus
SMG SM 121 Sec. A1

Sorry, ignore that last post. It’s the wrong course number.
This is the right one.
Fall '09 CAS EC 102 A1

Are you purchasing them from B&N or online? If from B&N you can put both into your cart and when you go pick it up in-store you can ask questions there and return the second one if need be.

Usually you only need whatever says “REQUIRED” so probably the first textbook is the one you need for the course. Sometimes profs require extra stuff although that should say required next to it as well. When I took EC102 the only things I needed were the textbook + APLIA (online problem sets). I’d say just get the first one for now and if your prof still requires you to get the second one you can get it afterwards. On the first day of class they usually pass out a syllabus with all the required materials on it anyways! Best of luck :)

Thanks alot precocious! That helps alot :D
