Why do people generally agree that Macs are better for design/graphics?

I would appreciate it if you could use layman’s explanation…and refrain from spewing jargon.

EDIT: I guess it’s hard not to use jargon, but at the least please explain what you are talking about, if it’s outside the technical knowledge of an average person.

I think some would say there are better graphics/motion/art/video type programs for Macs, compared to Windows.
A lot of people find Macs easier to use, and people into graphics/video may appreciate the fact they don’t need to think about technical settings or customizations.

I honestly don’t think it makes much of a difference. Once upon a time, Macs were better at graphics-related stuff, which is why it’s so prevalent in the design industry nowadays–it dates back to that time period–but most standard programs used for this type of work are available on both platforms. Photoshop on a PC is practically the same as Photoshop on a Mac. Use what you’re comfortable with.

They used to be better for certain applications, but nowadays Windows has levelled the playing field for these applications. Now Apple charges crazy prices just because of their name and marketing.

I think Final Cut (pro and express) are the preferred program for movie making. But now there are tons of Windows movie programs suck as Adobe’s premier and Sony Vegas. All of these programs have a learning curve. It takes years to learn all their features and use them ** effectively **. So, there actually is not advantage of a Mac except that most of the industry uses them.
