Madeira vs Emma Willard

how do these two schools compare academically? socially? and in terms of the arts programs?

=)

Hey there, I’ve never heard of Madeira but I currently go to Emma Willard. Academically, it’s great, there are great electives to choose from as well as a good selection of APs. Classes are taught in a way where discussions play a big role, and I’ve really enjoyed that. Socially, it is sometimes a bit boring because it’s in the middle of nowhere, and very far from other boarding schools. But the schools tries to plan lots of activities on and off campus and they do that well. The student population is also extremely friendly, like really friendly, as in you can sit at any table for any meals and not have to worry about it. The art program is great, there’s so many choices you can take. Our photography program is awesome! We have a darkroom, so one develops and prints their own film! The school also really loves to highlight students’ works.

sounds great!
what exactly do you mean when you say that it can get sometimes a bit boring? like; is it because your always with the same people?

it’s definitely not because you’re always with the same people, i love the sizes of class. it’s a bit boring in that we’re far away from other single-sex schools, so like dances with guys are usually far away. but, the school is getting better at things like that, and are trying to plan things here. it is also in the middle of no-whereish but, there are cute little cafes and shops in downtown troy actually. weekends can be as exciting as you want them to be basically.
