I just got an email today notifying that I was selected as MAE Scholar (Mechanical Aerospace engineering scholar). Basically it says that after three quarters at UCLA and maintaining a 3.0 GPA, I will be able to do research (it says the faculty advisor will help me match with a faculty for research and that I will get $1000 for project expenses). I searched online for additional info but couldn’t find any. Has anyone ever heard of this? Btw, I already sir’d Cornell, but this scholar thing suddenly came out of nowhere.
It sounds like a nice award to have. It’s not one I’m familiar with, but it would be great to be able to list that on the resume or CV. The $1000 research expenses is nice, and may help entice professors to take you onto their group, but you’ll probably be fine at Cornell even without such an award.
