i know, i know
don’t take mail notifs seriously becauses sometimes they don’t mean anything BUT i am signed up to usps informed delivery already because i just think it’s useful so does anyone know when (if) we will receive notifs? approx timeframe is nice
before the adults yell at me: i am not stressing over this and my expectations are low
@treenuggets , you’ll usually see them when the school creates the label or they get picked up. And yeah, we’re all yelling at you! And
hoping you have great news at 12:01 from GS…
i am so unbelievably scared you have no idea
i made a fumble (not sure) by emailing their arts director but they never got back to me… all i have left now is my delusion and a dream
you’re a CHILD you are going to DESTROY YOURSELF with STRESS lower your expectations and everything is going to end up okay. you will do well also, you may not do well idk, you can’t really predict anything. stop stressing tho
I read through the M10 2023 freakout thread (yes, the entire thing. And no, I didn’t realize how much more stressed this would make me. But ofc, I keep reading the older ones, because I have no willpower.) The earliest notification was around march 6th, maybe.
Just a friendly reminder to not rely on the mail notifications. I went crazy last year tracking via USPS, Fedex, and UPS b/c we were so excited to find out. I must have refreshed the tracking pages 3-4 times/day over the 3 days leading up to M10. My child was accepted into 4 boarding schools. Only 1 school (Hotchkiss…it showed an origination from Lakeville, CT with an unknown sender) showed up via tracking on March 9th and the other 3 school packages mysteriously arrived 1-2 days after M10. So, you cannot rely on the system.
If there is a notification it’s great, if not keep fingers crossed till M10. This year the mail should be sent M7-8 I guess since M9 and 10 are weekends
I’ve been getting all sorts of FedEx notifications since I signed up for this on a lark after reading about it here . Like for the Girl Scout cookies that arrived today.
Typically, the schools give the acceptance status (accept, wait list, decline) in an email or on their portal. And if a student is accepted, they send a package with a gift, which they don’t do for students who aren’t admitted or who are waitlisted.
My son attends a JBS so his entire class is applying to BS: they had a presentation yesterday where they were given a pep talk saying the same but they went through all the scenarios possible ranging from you get into your #1 choice to you didn’t get in anywhere….
But the message being, don’t sweat it. HS boarding school admissions is not going to dictate your life trajectory. I suspect everyone will end up “more than fine” in life no matter…
And, important to note that not all schools send an acceptance package/gift either. Of the six schools where my daughter was admitted, only two sent anything.
Millbrook and then Miss Porter’s sent a small thing with a picture of what they sent to the domestic students. They said that if she accepted their offer, they would give her the items when she arrived on campus in the fall.
