Would majoring in history or political science leave more doors open for me as far as job opportunities go? Also, is there any way to check to see if a course that is offered in the fall is offered in the spring as well. Or is any ocurse listed offered all year round?

If you really want a marketable degree coming out of undergrad, your best options would be along the lines of EECS, ChemE, Haas, CS, Economics, etc. But of course, I encourage you decide on your major based on interest and not as much on job opportunities, since most people switch careers at least once in their lifetime, and what’s lucrative now may not be the case in the future.

As for course offerings, go to berkeley’s online schedule at http://schedule.berkeley.edu/, and look up the course you are interested in, then click on the “catalog description” link to find out when it’s offered. For example, Chem 1A’s description has a (F,SP) at the very bottom meaning it’s offered in the fall and spring, whereas Chem 4A’s description has a (F) at the very bottom, meaning it’s only offered in the fall.

Actually, my main major of focus is Pre-Business, but I was just deciding on either History or Poli Sci as my backup major just in case I don’t get accepted to Haas. Which of the following schedules should I take for my 1st semester at Berkeley?

English R1A-4 units
Math 16A-3 units
History 4A-4 units
Education 98-2 units
Math 16A Adjunct-1 unit
Total=14 units

I want a schedule that’ll make the transition from high school to college much easier.
