If you’re planning on applying to med school, your goal should be to get into the program that contains courses that will fulfill the prerequisites of most medical schools to which you will be applying in four years, and also the program that will give you the best chance of scoring well on your MCAT. At U of I, that would be the MCB program, the IB program, Bioengineering, or, to a lessor extent, Chem. If you’re interested in medical school, they have pre-health advisors who can help you decide. Contact admissions directly for further information. Your gen eds will allow you to sample a few business classes, but you should have a laser-like focus on MCAT preparation, because without a good MCAT score, you have little chance of acceptance at any reputable medical school.

Another thing to consider is doing a minor in business - it’ll get you most of the knowledge you’re probably looking for while you focus on classes more closely related to medical school. There are generally very few people in the college of business who are pursuing the graduate school route so I would highly dissuade you from doing business if you know you want to do medical school.
