Major credit transfer problem??

I’m really worried about a CC credit transfer. For my major, there’s a 3.0 GPA cut-off for the lower division requirements, 4 in total. I’ve taken 2 of them in Berkeley and I’m taking the other 2 at a CC over the summer. Basically, I’m doing well in these two CC classes and the GPA that I get for those will be important for me to reach that 3.0 cut-off.
However, I’ve heard that although credits from outside of UC transfer, the GPA does not. How does that work, then, if I need the GPA from these CC classes to make the GPA cut-off in Berkeley? :frowning:
I’m confused. Has anyone else had this problem?

So you’re saying that to declare your major you need a 3.0 GPA in the major, but you have <3.0 if you only count classes taken at Berkeley?

I was a junior transfer from a CCC and was able to declare Political Science on the basis of my CCC coursework alone, before taking any classes at Cal. However, if you were a freshman admit it may be different.

My advice: Email the advisors for the major you’re interested in. Ask if grades from classes taken at a CCC that satisfy major prerequisites are included in the GPA requirement to declare the major.

Reach out to the people who run the program and ask her about your specific classes and grades to be sure!
