<p>When do most people take courses from the major cultures requirement?</p>
<p>Also, I was wondering if past/current students recommend knocking out Core requirements first or saving them for later. </p>

<p>My son didn’t get to them until junior year. One advantage of that was that he had declared his major, and was able to take a class that counted both for major cultures and his major – a rare case at Columbia where one class takes care of two requirements. So, that made one less core class.</p>
<p>a few people i know took 1 of them freshman year. this was really only because they were lucky enough to find a popular one that had some spots open when they registered tho…</p>
<p>most people i think tho do them soph year. you have a better chance of getting what you want anyways</p>
