First off, please don’t tell me that the academic programs I have chosen to study are worthless. I know exactly what I want to do with them and I have backup plans. Unless you are in my programs you don’t know all of the job opportunities available to people who study what I want to so don’t tell me that I’m going to end up unemployed because I’m not studying to be an accountant. I have to say that at the beginning of every post I create about my specific major/ minor interests because I always get at least one person who feels it’s his or her business to tell me that I’m wasting my money on college.

I want to go to James Madison University. I obviously don’t know if I’m in or not yet, but I have this thing where I go around to every college that I apply to and I map out EXACTLY what I want to study at each school so I’m prepared for anything. So this question will be slightly JMU specific.

These are my intended major/ minors:
-English w/ a concentration in Creative Writing (120 hour program)
-Creative Writing Minor (The minor offers certain classes that I want that the concentration doesn’t have) (19 hours-give or take a few, it’s a flexible program)
-Music Industry Minor (18 hours)

I wasn’t going to do such an intensive curriculum because I know that that’s going to be a lot. But it looks like I’ll be able to opt out of all of my Gen Eds except for math, so I figured I could start on my program Freshmen year. Plus I heard from some students at other universities that Double Minoring is pretty easy and is definetely do-able in 4 years.

So what do you think? Will I be pulling my hair out trying to do all of this? I have a passion for reading, writing, and music so I seriously doubt I’ll hate doing the programs that I’m doing. I just want to know if it’ll be too much to handle? I do want to have a social life. I’m not a party every single night of the week kind of girl, but I do like to have fun on the weekends.
