Major in Criminal justice and spanish?

does this sound like a good idea? im not a native speaker but i have been takin spanish for 12 years of my life i went through an imersion school so i know it pretty well i could speak with every spaniard i met in spain they said my spanish was very good. i could esaly minor in spanish because im taking 1 more AP spanish class (literature) then IB spanish (as a first language) i got a 5 on my AP spanish test i know a major in spanish is not as respected as english but im hoping to work for the goverement someday like for the INS or FBI but who knows

Sounds like a good idea because you seems pretty into Spanish, so getting the credits for the minor shouldn’t be a problem. Plus the 5 from the AP spanish test will give you some credits depending on your school’s reqs.

Seems like you would be a good candidate for Border Patrol work. I would check with the INS and FBI, though, to see what they have to say.

As an alternative to a Spanish major, consider a major in Latin American Studies. You still could continue Spanish language & lit studies as part of an LA Studies major.

As an alternative to a Criminal Justice major, consider an International Studies major. At some schools, the IS major offers thematic option tracks that may be relevant to your plans, e.g., security & intelligence or migration. Many programs require an language & area studies focus, e.g., Latin America.

As long as you’re far along in Spanish, consider picking up Portuguese, too.
