Hi!
Does anyone know colleges with strong international relations programs that are schools that would be a safety for a kid with a 3.7 UW and a 31 ACT? I am looking to study international relations, however, I am looking at mostly top international relations schools. Do you know of any schools that would be more of safeties, but still have a solid international relations program?
Thanks!
American University in Washington, D.C. has a middle 50% ACT of 26-30 and is ranked 9th by Foreign Policy Magazine for IR undergrad, not to mention the internship opportunities due to its location.
UCSD is ranked 13th and has an average ACT of 30 according to their website.
OSU is also ranked at 24th and has an ACT range of 27-31.
Hope this helps.
Indiana U, Ohio State, U Washington, Oregon
Thanks so much! I have been looking at American but never even looked at UCSD or OSU! Thank you @ShoveAChef
I don’t think it would be a safety, but I recently made a post about William & Mary which has plenty of opportunities for international relations students here. I think it could possibly be match if in state, but for most out of state students it would be a reach. Other schools that might fit the bill: Macalester and Dickinson College
How much can you afford? What state are you in? Different schools will have different price points, and especially at out of state schools, you’re unlikely to get merit money or non loan financial aid. By the way in no way is UCSD a safety for you. The UCs deemphasize standardized test scores.
Some suggestions:
Seton Hall University in New Jersey
Fordham University
University of Maryland - College Park
University of Denver
Simon Frasier University (Canada)
University of Ottowa (Canada)
The University of Denver is a good suggestion.
Unlike some of the others mentioned above, it’s a private school.
Depending on your situation, it may offer lower net costs than many OOS public schools.
Run the online net price calculators to compare.
