Major MISTAKE in SAT2s

Hello fellow CCers!
I hope all of you are happily done with SATs by now.
I, too, took the last chance for SAT today, and here I am
with a really serious problem.

I already have some SAT2 scores: Math2c 800 Chem 770 Bio 690 Phy 640
but as you see, my bio is quite low to be my third highest sat2 score,
and I thought i would be better off if i take physics again (there was
a major mistake with physics back in nov)

So today, i went to take physics, but then due to my stupid watch,
which requires some winding by hands, I couldn’t mark my answers
to the answer sheet.(don’t ask what happened…) I ended up marking
a bit less than a half of 75 problems, so i was deciding whether to
cancel it right away or to take bio and hope for better than 690.

of course i chose to take bio instantly, and it went well and I would say
it was definitely better than last time, and I think i broke the 700.
but as we all know, the score report will have my pathetic mistaken
physics score on it along with my bio score right? I assume i’ll get something
around 400 for physics.

So i was wondering how universities will take my ridiculously low physics
sat2 score. but here’s the funniest thing: I get 100 in physics in school,
and one of rec. letters is from my physics teacher and i’m sure it says
really good things about me(as in my math is good and science is good etc.)

should I send this jan SAT2 scores to univs? (assuming i get above 700
in bio and around 400 for physics) or not?:(

i hope ad. committee are human beings.

send it and don’t worry about it. When they say they look at your highest scores, they really do. All highest scores are processed and then sent to the admissions committee, so the people that will make your admission decision are not the same people that hunt and peck through your scores to find your highest, I promise! I actually had to call several schools about this because I had a similiar SAT question.

So in short, the people who matter (the ones reviewing your application) do, truly, only see your highest scores.

barberconcerto,
So what if you took 4 SAT IIs with one being your native language (as some schools strongly discourage people to take a foreign language SAT II in their native lanuage)? Will your top 3, and ONLY top 3, get sent to the admissions committee? Cuz if they do that, my native language SAT II will be one of them (evidently), they’d probably reject me just for that (when in fact, I did take a 4th SAT II).

No, they always take your highest three. If you do not want your native language one used, you need to call admissions and let them know, and then you need to mail or fax them a letter.

What if you indicated on the Common Application that you took 4 SAT IIs?

And what’s Yale’s policy in terms of native language SAT IIs?

I think Yale accepts native language SAT IIs, but admissions officers probably think it’s pretty lame to use them as one of your three.

I have emailed them before to ask about native language SAT IIs. They said they don’t recommend taking those, but if you do, they expect an 800. It makes sense, because they are way to easy. But it apparently shows some laziness.

So it looks like another round of phone calls to colleges to tell them that I took a 4th SAT II…

I’m scared now. AA, (or anyone else) do you know if the regional directors have already started reading the applications yet? Will it be too late if I call on Monday?

“i hope ad. committee are human beings.”

Ah! Sorry, you’re out of luck. I hear Yale just replaced all of its admission officers with state of the art androids. Maybe harvard will accept you. I hear they still favor people.

ahahahahahaha…

actually? yale has androids operating for admissions?
now i’m going to cry.
