MAJOR question!!

I wanted to major in aerospace/aeronautical engineering but it is not offered at Duke. What should I major in?

Duke’s mechanical engineering and materials science major is a good foundation for aerospace engineering:

[The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science] pursues research in areas such as mechanical engineering include adaptive structures, acoustics, aerodynamics, controls, dynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics. Departmental faculty, staff, and students collaborate regularly with researchers from other departments in engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, the basic medical sciences, medicine, and environmental studies, as well as with a number of industry and government laboratories. Active topics in research and education in materials science are centered around soft, wet natural materials and nanostructures as well as electronic materials and the use of positron annihilation methods in materials evaluation.

Thanks. I am also interested in physics, do you think its possible for me to major in physics and mechanical engineering.

physics/EE seems more possible… but me/physics could be done

Which is more difficult, Mechanical or Electrical engineering

probably EE, but i couldnt say either way because… I havent done them… lol, neither one is easy im sure.

if you really really want to do aeronautical engineering, why would you go to duke? Why not go to a place like GAtech that specializes in that?

I like duke.

…nuff said

and it depends on how positive you are that would want to major in engineering…i know a senior who switched from pratt and became psych majors, and a friend of mine is switching to trinity this semester…so even if you may want engineering now, it’ll be comforting to know it’s possible to change your mind and still get a great education.
