<p>How do you confirm your major? Because I have a registration block on my.umd that says “New student requires advising
Mandatory Advising - for ENGR-CHEM in the Department office” and that “You have not been given an Early Registration Time.”
I think it’s because I haven’t confirmed my major or that I haven’t enrolled. I could be wrong… what other reasons could it be and how can I fix this?</p>
<p>I assume you are an incoming freshman? You will register at Orientation–your engineering advisor is the one who will remove the advising block for registration. It sounds to me like your major is considered Chemical Engineering. This message will not change until you enroll AND attend Orientation this summer. (You will have mandatory advising every semester at UMD, at which one or more blocks will be cleared by your advisor).</p>
