Major

What major can I take in community college to get a Law degree at Harvard?

Uh ok. Major in whatever you want as long as you maintain a 3.9/4.0 for your whole bachelors.

Plus rock the LSAT 172+. (The LSAT is the single most important factor in your application.)

So your saying that I would not matter on what I majored in at my four year university?

Basically that I have as much as a chance with business administration as I would with Political Science?

Also I am hoping to Transfer to Berkeley first. What did you major in?

It doesn’t really matter, however there are some general guidelines:

1) No pre-law majors (i.e. legal studies) Law schools want to teach you law.
2) No vocational majors (i.e. business). This is because they aren’t technically “academic” and lack in writing & analytical skills. HOWEVER, majoring in a top ranked business program (like haas) should be okay.

I am an Economics major, graduating in a month.

But yeah law schools look at 1) Your LSAT (about 60% your application, some say even as high as 70%) 2) Cumulative GPA

Those two are roughly 80% of your application , with your LSAT dominating.

Then ECs, LORs, undergrad institution, rigor of classes, etc.

Thank you I see now, would you happen to know if business is the same with law about wanting to teach us business?

FYI, I am very interested in getting into Berkeley and I heard Haas is very competitive.

Business is not like law. If you want to do business, take business classes.

Haas is okay. Yeah it’s competitive, but it’s not competitive nor difficult like engineering in any respect. The material is rather easy to learn, so because of that, the classes are sometimes curved ridiculously. However supposedly some classes curve to B+/B instead of B- (which is the norm for most classes) so that makes it better.

However many econ students go to law school

Yeah, I think it’s the third most popular pre-law major.

First ones are Poli Sci and History? Maybe English?

Does your GRE score count at all?

Your GRE scores is not factored into your admissions for law school (you would only take the GRE if you planned on entering into graduate school).
