Major?

Does anyone know where to find out what major they were admitted in for? My admission letter only says that I was admitted into the School of Arts and Sciences at New Brunswick and I’m a little worried I might have been accepted for some other major than the one I chose since my friend was admitted into the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences even though she chose theater arts. Any help will be very much appreciated. :)

I don’t know if you can find that out at this point, but if you applied to SAS it doesn’t matter what you put down. It isn’t set in stone until you declare your major. So don’t worry about it =)

With the case of your friend . . . did she even apply to SEBS or did they just randomly threw her in the school?

I might have this wrong but some majors go by departments so maybe your major is apart of that department. There should be various ways to check

Oh, thanks MushaboomBlue! I signed up for pre-med advising so I thought it would be different. And they really did just threw my friend in there, she wants to be an actress and she auditioned for Mason Gross but SEBS is not even close to that.

I emailed admissions but enrolled before getting a response back because I was all nervous about not getting into my first choice for housing.

Something doesn’t sound right. Mason Gross has a separate admissions policy. My daughter was admitted to Rutgers but her acceptance to Mason Gross was “pending” a review. Theatre students have to audition in addition to be accepted by Rutgers to attend Mason Gross as well. Call admission, maybe be accidentially check off the wrong box.

I have no idea how it happened but my friend isn’t considering Rutgers anymore since she was admitted into Tisch so now she just feels bad for taking up someone else’s spot at SEBS.

If your in SAS you don’t have to declare a major till sophomore year. SAS is a blanket for most of the majors, so after your enrolled into SAS you can take classes and you declare what major you want in your second year. However if you wanted to be an engineer/pharmacy/performing arts/business major those are part of different schools so you couldn’t declare any of those as your major.

As for your friend I have no idea what your talking about. Either its a computer error or she applied to SEBS and Mason Gross and got into SEBS. She couldn’t have “chosen” theater arts as you don’t apply for a major into after you get accepted into Mason Gross (which requires an audition and is highly competitive). On the Rutgers application you choose more than 1 school to apply for, so she must have applied to SEBS and got accepted and didn’t get accepted into MG.

Oh, thanks.

And it’s most likely a computer error since she didn’t choose SEBS and she did audition for MG.
