Majoring in Intercultural Communication?

I plan on pursuing a career in broadcast journalism (more specifically, international/political news) but am a little hesitant on choosing “Broadcast News” or “Journalism” as my major for reasons of it being too “specific” and being stuck in a major that is less broad. I am very interested in international politics, cultures, languages, etc. and the study of Communication in general so I thought Intercultural Communication would be my best shot outside of Journalism. But…would majoring in Intercultural Communication help me to be successful in attaining my goals as a journalist? Would it prepare me for any of my backup career choices? (Law, politics, international business) Would it be beneficial to maybe double-major?
