<p>From the chats I had with an admissions officer, who majored in classics, the foreign language department is one of the best in the country.</p>

<p>I don’t understand if you’re asking if the department is selective or if the college is selective because you don’t apply to a specifc department, you just apply for the school. If you get into the university then you can choose what to major in and take whatever classes for that major. THe only selection would be your own in choosing which class to take.</p>
