I recently committed to going to the university of michigan at ann arbor.

I indicated biophysics and intend to follow this path but there is not as much information I can find regarding it compared to other more popular majors. I was wondering if anyone could share thier opinion with me related to this major.

Feel free to tell me about your major or U of M AA experience I would surely enjoy reading about it

I’ll be in your class next year so I can’t comment on my experience, but I’m 99.9% sure that just because you indicated biophysics, doesn’t mean you’re even signed up for that major. You can’t declare a major until you meet with your advisor. I would recommend just going in freshman year undeclared and take classes in the fields you’re interested in, including biophysics. They just ask you on the app to get a feel for your interest but it doesn’t mean you’re obligated to that major by any means.

Michigan is an incredible place. There’s so much opportunity there but the trick is to be proactive. They offer more than most schools but don’t baby you, so you must take initiative. You don’t have to be a maniac, just proactive. I recommend the Residential College for a liberal arts college experience. If not that, then the living learning communities and the undergraduate research program. The campus is full of arts and culture and speakers - utilize it. You may get ideas on what to do with your life.

My advice to all college kids - minimize bars and parties and socializing. Save your pennies. Don’t get too caught up in academic pretentiousness. Come out of college with a career path. Don’t be intimidated by the professors or the other students. It’s your education and your life. Use these years well because it’s once in a lifetime.
