Hey all, I’m really interested in going into real estate, but have looked through all the majors at CMU and am a little confused as to which one is the best for starting a career in real estate after I graduate. Thanks!

You’d probably have to start off as a business major in Tepper. Go through all your intro business courses as a foundation and then work towards your MBA. After that, Tepper actually has a real estate club that you can probably be a part of. I suggest asking your academic advisor about the opportunities available.

No offense meant, but real estate isn’t the kind of job you go to CMU for. If you got a Tepper degree, you’d be highly overqualified to work in real estate. A lot of my family is in escrow and they basically walked right into jobs without a college degree - as do many other successful agents.

Perhaps it’s more of real estate investing or some sort like that? I know my step brother worked for a very large company managing real estate investments for them. They’d buy large facilities/buildings and lease them out or fix 'em up and sell them for a profit. He made a boatload of money with them and a few years ago switched to doing the same thing for a foreign government. He travels all over the world and gets paid more than I can ever hope to with a PhD. :(
