So let’s say my stats for schools like USC abd UCLA aren’t that great. If I do a really unique fantastic personal statement would I have abetter chance at getting in? I have a decent gpa and my ecs are… different, I guess, meaning nobody really has EC’s like mine, but im not president or anything like that. If I answer the questions about myself on the Common App interestingly enough will that balance out the “bad?” I would love to go to these schools, but I would be happy at CSU Long beach or Fullerton. Here are the “top notch” schools im applying to:
USC
UCLA
UC Davis
UC Santa Barbara
UC San Diego
UC Santa Cruz
Syracuse
Northwestern
Wesleyan
NYU
Boston
Loyola marymount OR Pepperdine idk which one yet.
And one more, idk which yet I have one more fee waiver.

So can any of this overcome my horrible sat and gpa? If i do better on the act will that help too?
Do I have a chance at one of these schools?
Thanks.

1480 out of 2400 ?

Take out Northwestern, Boston, NYU, and UCLA from your list…

@spirral: even if they are free to apply too? I honestly have no other colleges to fill up those fee waivers.

Yes it is 1480 out of 2400, like I said I know it’s low. Don’t nag me, that why I’m asking if I do good on the ACT and personal statement, do I have a chance.

Unless you can get 30+ on ACT, yes. I would advise you to take them off from your list because there are better options for you out there.

Alright. Can anyone suggest what schools I should apply to then? DONT say CSU’s because I already applied to them. I really need to have them, because deadlines are coming up!
