Make sure my safeties are safeties

With applications looming, I’m getting the stereotypical “I’m not going to be accepted anywhere ■■■” kind of feeling. Can Y’all reassure me that my safeties are a pretty good bet.

Schools are Oklahoma-Norman, Mississippi State, East Carolina, and UNC-Asheville
I’ll probably apply undecided, but all of the schools I’m applying to have a meteorology department, which is what I’m leaning toward.

Rising Senior in a class of 323, public high school in North Carolina
ranked 9/323 (top 3%)
UW GPA: 3.88, W GPA: 4.67
SAT: 1600/2400 ACT 23 (retaking both come September/October)

By the end of senior year, I’ll have completed 8 Ap’s, and so far I’ve gotten A’s in all that I’ve taken.

Extracurricular:
I work a job at a grocery store about 20 hours a week (time consuming!)
I am a member of our schools soccer team for all of my 3 years, first two on JV, varsity this past year
JV Captain of soccer sophomore year
National Science Honors society member
Student advisory committee member
National Honors Society (hoping to get an officer position, but that’s next year)
Volunteer experience-I have about 60 hours right now, but over the summer it will probably go up to around 150-200
Selected as a Junior Marshall for the graduation ceremony this year

I think even those are a little bit low for safeties for you. With a 2400 SAT and weighted GPA of 4.67, plus your high class rank, I think you can get in to a lot of great schools. The only thing that looks weak is your ACT score, but you can only report your SAT if you choose. Your ECs could be improved, and I’d suggest trying to find a volunteer program involving something you really enjoy (i.e tutoring low-income, inner-city youth) and write about it on your college essay.

Good luck!

^ No. OPs sat score is 1600 for all three sections. I thought the same as you initially but op has a 23 act. Your grades are excellent but test scores are low.

did u mean 1600/1600 and 2400/2400 or a 1600 our of 2400?

I would say those count as safeties. Although it might be better if you took the time to retake the SAT. I suggest making use of the resources here at CC, and the Official SAT Study guide by the College Board.

Your Act and Sat are low. However, your class rank is what saves you. For OU, you will most likely be accepted

Sent from my Desire HD using CC

Yeah I know the scores are low, I’m retaking them in the beginning of senior year, but I’ve just never been a good standardized test taker…My mom had to fight hard to get me into accelerated classes when I was young because i didn’t score well on the stupid “what comes after this picture in the sequence” thing. Obviously I’m capable I just don’t do well on those tests. And yes it’s a 1600/2400, not 1600/1600. If I had a perfect SAT score coupled with my grades my safeties would be the likes of UVA and Duke.

I’m assuming I’m good admission from OU because this is what their website says under admissions criteria:
NON-RESIDENT
Unweighted cumulative
grade point average
of at least a 3.50
(on a 4.00 scale)
and
Rank in the top 25%
of your high school graduating class

Then says “OR” and lists test score criteria

Oh and apologies for double post but the edit button is gone. If you guys have any ideas of a better safety than I have I’m all ears. I’m a NC resident but I have a tuition scholarship that’ll pay up to $32k in tuition to any school in the country. I want to go to a school with a meteorology program, and I like large state schools.
