If I got a 2000 on my SATs, would winning 10+ student film festivals boost my chance of admission? I would major in film, and almost all of my ECs are film related. Would the festival wins make up for the not so great SAT?

um…why do you think a 2000 is bad?! Geez lol i got an 1860 and i’m still appying…you have nothing to worry about :D

yeap, 2000 is NOT that bad!

Flynn: 2000 is a really good score-unless you got an 800 in writing;but then you could apply to the journalism school! Please break out your scores. This year is hard at Northwestern because of the dramatic surge in applications due to the common app. and high ED acceptance rate. Regardless, your score of 2000 is excellent and will not hurt your chances for admission to NW. As a film major did you apply to USC or NYU? Southern Cal. got a ton of money from George Lucas for its film school.

I got into NU with a 2010.

i don’t think ‘make up for’ is the right term, but it will definitely help you… not to mention your score is a little higher than mine

film making is a hobby of mine too, but i haven’t won any festivals, so in my eyes that is impressive. i think your passion shows, so as long as your essays reflected some of that i think you stand a decent chance.

thanks! yeah im looking into usc and nyu, but id rather end up in boston or chicago just because i dont want to end up doing hollywood films.
