malcolm x

So what he’s flawed. Martin Luther King was flawed. George Washington was flawed. I still think he’s a hero(I know that you said it doesn’t take away from him, but I don’t think his flaw was his attitude.)

In his last few years, MLK was nearly as radical as Malcom X. This has been downplayed significantly.

If you all would do the research, then you’d know that the government has files on all civil rights activists and finding the way to stop the revolution before it begins. That’s what was in the reports of the weathermen underground found (Students for a Democratic Society formally; er… I think.)   SAY IT ONCE! SAY IT LOUD! I’M BLACK AND I’M PROUD!!!

…Just don’t let the government know about the new radical revoultions underway!!!

Malcolm X is one of the most interesting figures in American history and something of a personal hero of mine, not really for everything that he said or his personal views towards whites, but because of the personal transformation and evolution he went through during his life. This is a man who was nothing but a common street criminal before he went to prison, and in there he was able to educate himself and turn his life around. After his pilgrimmage to Mecca, he made some radical changes in the way he viewed white people and preached a more embracing way towards all men. He had an ability that few people had, which was to actually go back and say “You know what, maybe I was wrong about the way I lived” and actually changed his way of living to touch many people’s lives. He was not just a talking head in a history book but an actual human being who made a change to better his life and the lives of many others, and I respect that a lot.

There’s something I’d like to be clarified. I’m not quite sure if this is true or just a rumor but was Malcolm X a pimp?

When he used to work as a shoe shiner at a dance club/bar, he set people up with prostitutes, so in a sense yes, he was a pimp, but he didnt wear a tiger-striped felt hat. He was also a drug dealer and hustler and robber (tru gangsta), but then he changed.

I always laugh when I come across people who haven’t a clue what Malcolm was about. During childhood, he witnessed his father taken from his home by presumably the KKK and strapped to train tracks left to die. For many other people, this alone would be conducive to a life of racism and unproductive hatred. However, Malcolm serves as a model for continuous self-improvement. When he went on a pilgrimage to Mecca, he met decent Muslims of all races, and changed his ways. From a pimp, a hustler and a racist to an eloquent, learned and fair man. All in one lifetime! Black Panthers and KKK members alike should take a page out of Malcolm’s book. If, at the end of the day, Malcolm wasn’t racist, what does that say about the ideology of racism?

“I always laugh when I come across people who haven’t a clue what Malcolm was about. During childhood, he witnessed his father taken from his home by presumably the KKK and strapped to train tracks left to die.”

I agree with you that people don’t know enough about Malcolm’s life, especially because his father was beaten to death, not strapped to train tracks.

I am responding to the commend you made about Malcolm X and I quote " malcolm x was a racist for a good part of his life." and you went on to cite Martin L King and Rosa Park in your discussion.

My suggestion to you is as follows,

ONE- You need to know the meaning of the word racist
TWO- Collect your data about the full life story of malcolm X (read his biography)
THREE- Study the history of America particulary during the Amaerican Revolution, slavery period, Civil war, the american policies towards Afro-American, its involvent in the vietinum wars, korea etc its laws ie black codes, Jim Craw laws, second class citizenship etc. I also suggesst you look at orginisations such as the KKK,

once you have digested the above, acknowledged what happenned, how would you feel and react as a human being. when you get to this stage, you and I can have a full discussion of malcolm x and his philosophy.

Of extreme importance, in future, you never pass an oppion about any subject without getting your facts right. my personal email is zikuzo@hotmail.com. keep in touch. thanks and good luck
