Would it be good to double major in say, psychology, if I decided to pursue this field?

Depends on the type of consulting you want to do. Marketing, Human Resource Administration? Then maybe. Finance, Accounting, Legal? Then maybe not.

Human resources can range anywhere from benefits administration to post traumatic stress, to work/family life consulting. Also organizational relationship and group dynamics consulting. I’m not well versed but that gives you an idea.

Also, process analysis and fraud detection and risk assessment. Risk associated with human factors in business administration.

Marketing uses psychology to define and communicate value. The value that comes from the products and services a company offers. Marketing also helps determine the feasibility of a service or product. Communicating value and making sales depends on human factors. There are quite a few psychological aspects of packaging, price, and product placement.

The question is whether a double in psychology will give you and edge over your competition for jobs. That depends of your ability to take what you learn, apply it to practical business solutions, and convey, effectively, the value you bring because of your enhanced skills and knowledge.
