I’m also Asian. female. SAT score over 2250, but under 2300. major award : national philosophy olympiad. many interesting ECs. essay, good, but not excellent. gpa? super-low. expect nothing from brown but…but it’s my dream school. Every time I imagine getting rejection letter from Brown, I cry. It’s so miserable.

You should know that Brown does not mail letters! just online!

I found a quote which I find soothing to the pressure. I hope you enjoy it as well.

“In some attempts, it is glorious even to fail.” Longinus

Hail to my fellow under qualified applicants!

1880 SAT, 3.6 gpa, and only 5 AP Classes (two community college classes tho).

May the Admissions Deities smile upon your applications.

ha ha we were never underqualified! we are all great regardless what gpa/act classes we take.

I received an e-mail from Brown saying that I should check my decision at 6PM EST. I was wondering if the time I received had anything to do with my decision. Is 5PM EST for accepted students and 6PM for waitlisted students and then 7PM for denied students?

No. 10char

^^I don’t think so, but it’s weird that yours says 6pm because everyone’s says 5pm.

“May the Admissions Deities smile upon your applications.” LOLOL

amusing.

Doda2011, actually a lot of the applicants with likely letters got the 6 and 7 pm time periods. So, no the time doesn’t matter, but yes, RainbowSprinkles, applicants got various times. They probably relate to region.

They definitely relate to region; there’s a whole thread about that. It’s just so everyone technically receives letters at the same time. Theyre taking the time zones into account.

No, not everyone’s is 5 PM. Mine states “7 PM” explicitly. And I will cry if I don’t get in also, because Brown is one of the dream schools I want to go to ><

please.
not THIS debate.
AGAIN.

in other news I will be on an airplane when decisions come out and will have to spend 6 hours biting my fingernails.

The answer is time zones! This is always the answer.

I dunno about time zones, I get mine 4PM local time (5PM EST)

in more important news… tomorrow!

See the other thread below. It’s not the time zones bc several people in same time zone have different times. Probably just trying not to crash their server. We’re 6:00 p.m here in DC :). Not expecting good news, but I agree with fe2011, you have to dream big no matter what! I love your attitude!!!

I have a great idea on how to drag this thread on. After everyone gets their acceptance or rejection you can post back with the time your were instructed to check and if you were rejected, waitlisted, or accepted. Then we can FINALLY put it to rest. ;)

I took 3 AP classes. I got in. Comparing yourself to others on here when it comes to GPA/AP classes is silly, since it varies by school - it’s hard to take 12 AP classes if your school doesn’t let you (or if that couseload would cause you to have a breakdown at your school…)

So good luck to everyone, and remember that comparing yourselves to others on here is silly, and that regardless of the news you get, you’ll find a good fit for college.

well I’m Eastern Time and it says 5pm. Crossing my fingers & hoping for the best, but knowing that it’ll probably be a rejection. Ah well, at least I tried.
