March for Our Lives

Try to keep this thread open by not talking about the elephant in the room. So, just checkins and logistics if anyone needs transportation. Or, CC meetups.

Who is going to a March for Our Lives on March 24? Where?
Last I saw, there were 184 events scheduled worldwide, including on every continent.

I’m going to the march in Santa Barbara along with my kids.

I’m going to the Washington DC march with DD.

I’m going in Seattle. Taking a sign that encourages young people to not only register to vote, but to STAY registered as they move around. And if they will vote absentee, be sure they meet deadlines and understand the specific rules for their ballots.

DC with DH, DD, and DD’s BFF. Right now I am supposed to be figuring out the optimal time to pick up BFF before heading to the Red Line Metro. You will notice that I am procrastinating from that. Will wave at @Joblue in the crowd.

I will be at the NYC march.

DH, older D and her boyfriend and many friends are marching in NY tomorrow. Younger d and friends are in Washington DC for friend’s wedding tomorrow night and they will be marching in DC and hope to get to see the Obama portraits today. Told her that last weekend apparently 45,000 people had the same idea.

I just saw that Lyft is offering free rides to march attendees at the 50 largest marches. “To take advantage of it, a rally attendee will have to reserve a ride to his or her city’s march and receive a code.” There is a Lyft blog post that tells how to get the code.

I’ll be at the Detroit one. We’re calling attention to the fact that we’ll be .5 miles away from Canada where we’re 50-some times less likely to die by a gun.

We will be marching in Parkland. Need to go buy sign making supplies today. There is a sign making party tonight in a park in our neighborhood that is being sponsored by Moms Demand Action - if we are home we will head over there.

Los Angeles area with my husband and daughter. I will print composite photos of students who have died at school, starting with Columbine, and put those on a sign. No other text needed.

I’ll be in Austin with my MDA shirt and dh and at least one friend in tow. I wish I had a Lyft account, because I walked soooo far to get to the Women’s March last year. My sign is along the lines of “See you in November.”

Orange County, CA, San Clemente specifically as I have family that are teachers and students in the school district there.

H, D and I are marching in DC.

All of you, please report back! And THANK YOU.

@“Youdon’tsay” You can open a Lyft account in just a few minutes. D2 helped me do it quickly one day when my car wouldn’t start when I had an appointment. :(( It is super easy to use, I just used it last week when traveling. You just download the app to your phone.

Now up to 841 marches worldwide. We are marching in Houston.

I will say, the weather report for Seattle has changed for tomorrow, and it looks truly foul. :(. I did the March for Science in DC in the rain, and it ruined my sign quickly.

I am trying to leave as small a digital footprint as possible … cc aside! :))

Going in Denver.
