March Madness 2011!!

Okay, back by popular demand the CC Parents March Madness Fantasy Bracket is open. Of course, there’s not an actual bracket yet, but SOME people felt the need to jump the gun.

Instructions:

First and foremost, you have to have a (free) Yahoo! mail account. No big deal, if you don’t already have one you can visit mail.yahoo.com to set one up. Make sure you’re signed in to your account before proceeding.

Go to [College Basketball Tournament Pick’em - Yahoo! Sports](<a href=“Yahoo Fantasy Men's Bracket Madness”>Yahoo Fantasy Men's Bracket Madness)
Click on “Join a Group”
Click “Join Group”
Group ID number is 11911, Password is ccparents
Select the button “Create a New Bracket” and name your bracket – I suggest using your college confidential name or some close variant so we’ll know who is who
Click to show you have read the terms and conditions
Click “Submit”

That should do it. Once the brackets are out you can come back and fill in the bracket. You may enter up to 3 different brackets

I’m in!! Thanks!

I hope to partake, and am going to Vegas to watch/bet on all the games ;)

Entered and signed in :).

And, hey, this year lderochi has outdone himself. He’s giving out a $1,000,000 prize if we get them all right… maybe I should re-think that “sentimental” pick strategy.

Entered with 2.

I’m in. Do you think winning the $1 Million will affect our FAFSA??

I’m in! This should be fun again!

I’m new to this. Is it winner take all? Or does second place get, like, $500,000? (I’d be happy to settle for half of that.)

Winner takes all! Of course for the Yahoo! sports brackets $1M prize, “winner” means you have a perfect bracket – good luck, last year I lost my chance at $1M approximately 2 hours after the first game tipped off. But if you enter your CCParents bracket into the Yahoo! nationwide bracket challenge (there’s a little button there at the bottom) you can also track how you do against the whole country, which is kind of fun.

Even though I am crazy into sports, I for some reason never got much into the whole March madness thing. I had to laugh when I saw this thread as we’re on CC and it reminded me of when I was in high school. Now, our teacher for Calculus was an older man in his 60’s, very stern, old school (couldn’t use a calculator for calc, had to do everything by hand), etc. One thing we did know about him though was that he loved basketball. I remember being in Calculus during March madness and there was this one kid in my class… big joker kid. We’re in the middle of calc one day and he literally gets up out of his seat, walks up and turns on the tv and puts on the game, comes back to his seat and resumes working on whatever he was working on. Our teacher was like excuse me, we have class right now. and He’s there oh right. So the kid walks up to the tv again, and turns the volume down. Lol. He sits back down and the teachers looking at him amazed that he had the guts to walk up and turn on the tv in the middle of his class. The kid was like oh come on you know you want to see this game too. Apparently it was a really big game or something, i dunno. amazingly enough the guy let him keep the game on and you could see him peeping at it out of the corner of his eye, haha!

All you have to do for $1M is pick all the games right? How hard can that be? I mean, if, say, Kansas were playing UT, isn’t it pretty obvious that a huge cow could beat a bird?

We usually do a “family” pool and last year the dog entered. He picked based on the mascot and the mascot closest to a dog got the win. He actually did better than most of us!

Looking for the March Madness theme song as a ringtone. Anybody know where I can find it? Call me crazy, but I just love the song and what it stands for…Old fashioned cell phone, no smart phone/iphone…

LOL, I was just toodling around on the bracket site and was checking out our group. I found out I have a trophy from last year in my trophy case! If you check on the name to the right of your user name (just after the little icon), it brings up your past history plus the medals and trophies you have won. Who knew?

^^ That’s so cool! I looked and found my trophy for 2009 champion (unlike last year, which was pitiful. Hoping to redeem myself this year…)

Tick, tick, tick . . .

Drat! That site is blocked here at work. Guess I’ll have to sign-up from home. :(

I can remember the name of the Yahoo account I use for this, but not the password. Gotta find time to set another one up!

Been watching some of the Big East tournament. Man, talk about controversy and upsets! Don’t know if the national tournament can provide this much entertainment.

Anyone else see the bad ref calls at the end of the St. Johns/Rutgers game? Or the final few seconds of the Pitt/UConn game?

Seldom do you see anything as terrible as the officiating at the end of the Rutgers/St. Johns game. Horrible.

I stayed up late to make sure my Commodores beat LSU. We tried to blow it, but weren’t successful! Tonight is another late night while I help them play Miss. State.
