March Madness 2011!!

The Huskies aren’t going to give the tarheels as much trouble as Syracuse will if they get past marquette. Syracuse plays this kind of zone which is just the kind of defense Carolina will have trouble with. Sitll, anyone who wants to see some great basketball will be glued to the Washington UNC game today for the ball handling skills alone.

Go Heels!

I’m demolished. Picked too many upsets this year, as it happens, and they were (mostly)the wrong upsets.

I got the whole East region right, actually, but the rest is a shambles.

Not a bad first round. Go Aztecs!!!

I was 12-4. Not sure what I am right now. We have a corporate bracket thing at work and with 12-5 i was ahead of 51 percent of people. I don’t really follow it so I’ll just check it every once and awhile to see how I compare with everyone else.

Butler!! I loved you last year and love you even more now. What a wild finish.

WOW…Pitt goes down!!!

Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk!

Big East proving they didn’t deserve 11 spots…

If Pitt doesn’t make those 2 ridiculous fouls they go into OT. The refs made correct calls on both of them. Very undisciplined on the part of Pitt…

I thought the Gonzaga v. BYU game would be a lot closer than it was.

I just want to thank tx5athome’s dog Henry for the consult. I couldn’t have ended the day in such good standing without him. Could we be headed for a Duke-Butler rematch?

I hope so, then I will not be the only person with brackets in shambles.
Misery loves company, as they say.

I never made (ever) any brackets. This year I’m not in to it so much, either. Just following the few schools nearset to me geographically, UIUC, Butler and Purdue.

It’s awfully quiet over on the UPitt forum…

can’t believe we are dealing with Butler again…no offense, but really haven’t heard alot about this team during the regular season…

for those of you live nearby (gloworm) was this expected again?

As a UConn fan, I’m happy about our performance, but really disappointed with the BE’s showing. One more BE team definitely makes the Sweet 16 today (Syracuse or Marquette) & hopefully Notre Dame. At least Pitt gave us the most ridiculous ending to a game I’ve ever seen.

shellfell - there is a theory about how the BET takes the steam out of the BE teams. It is such a difficult conference, and any team that plays more than one or two games in that tournament, comes to the national tournament already very worn down. I actually thought UConn would go down early since they essentially played five very hard games in five days.

^^given how many teams from the BE actually made the 68 this year, it doesn’t seem like it really matters who wins the BET other than bragging rights…?

I also thought that UConn would go down earlier this year…but the Pitt loss did really surprise me considering their regular season domination…

Wonder if they care about all of this business overseas? I guess I’ll have to find bars and pubs to watch the games when I can…won’t be back until the finals!!

Cannot believe the end of the Pitt/Butler game! Butler takes the sure win and makes the stupid foul that gives Pitt the chance to win. Pitt takes a sure overtime and makes the stupid foul that gives Butler the chance to win it after all.

I can imagine how relieved the Butler player who made the last foul that almost cost his team the game is today…

And how bad the Pitt player who made the very last foul feels today.

^Yes…I hope he can bounce back in time. And I hope that members of the Pitt community will remember that, as disappointed as they are, these basketball players are just kids.

You know, I was going to say that.

OMG, they just showed an interview with Robinson. I have tears in my eyes. He felt so bad.

I wish K-State could have pulled it out. But it was a good game nonetheless.

That’s right!
