March Madness 2012

You know, after the news about Syracuse, I went back and changed my 3 brackets to having Syracuse lose much earlier. But after the tournament started, it looked like I hadn’t changed anything. Maybe I forgot to hit “Save bracket” after making the changes, but right now I’m in better shape than if I had made the changes. Go figure.

Now of course, with the news about UNC’s point guard, there may be a distinct possibility they won’t win the title as I have them doing in my top bracket. Oh well.

But at least you are not in last place, limabeans. I have that honor as well, lol!

It’s Madness, I tell ya.

So, I was soooo worried about Kansas…and relieved when that bracket was saved…that I went to sleep during the Flor St-cincinnati game

Two complete brackets…gone…poof! Missouri and Flor St; we had both going to the final four…

Time to revert to my D’s school…even though it is a long shot and we didn’t have it going this far…GO ORANGE!

Uggh. In last place for the CC brackets. At least I’m right behind everyone. I just picked the wrong upsets!

I’m in an interesting bracket set at work. After each big weekend you get to put in a new sheet so fewer people get knocked out before the end. I still have a chance in that…

heart attack city during KU-Purdue game. We live in Kansas, neither of us went to KU but we’ve adopted it. Now our S1 goes to Purdue. I wanted KU to win but not for Purdue to lose. Wow, what a game. Purdue played the better game for 55 minutes but that last 5 (ok, 3 minutes) was the all important time. Talk about sweating out a game!
My bracket busted with Duke, Mizzou and another…oh well, still watching.

Er…ahem, Cartera.

Everybody knows that the actual name of the shade of blue you’re talking about is “COLUMBIA BLUE.” Yeah, that’s right.

Well to be honest, the sky is Comet Blue because my high school teams were the Comets and our colors were “Carolina” blue and white.

Columbia - isn’t that a winter apparel brand?

What a great idea!

Never mind.

Erin’s Dad, (thank you!) I just figured out you were doing the same thing as me, and here I thought I was in last place. You are looking at the list of the top 10 plus yourself. You have to click on the link, “View complete standings” at the lower right. You are actually tied for 12th out of 39, not so bad!

Touche Catera.

But just don’t forget the winners of the 1930 Rose Bowl. That’s right. Columbia is undefeated in Rose Bowl play. Not one loss in 80 years!!! LOL.

D1 has tickets to the Sweet 16 in Boston, and will get to see her 'Cuse play. She actually met Jimmy B. and Doc Gross (SU AD) in the Pru Center today. I guess they were walking through and people noticed them so they were in a hospitable mood to talk with fans.

Well, tomorrow will be interesting. One of WI’s rising players played for our high school. I told D1 to arrive early for warm-ups, try to get down there and introduce herself as a fellow high school alumni and then intimidate the hell out of him!

She did say, if Syracuse loses to Wisconsin, on Saturday she will make a sign that says “______________ (our high school’s name) representin’” and take it to the game with her. The poor kid will probably have no idea why someone up in the nosebleed section would have a sign saying that.

Anyway, she is an Orange fan through and through, but she was born in Madison, so no matter who plays on Saturday, she’ll have a home team to root for.

Tell her to watch out for all the flopping by the Wisconsin players!

Oh, snap, MomofWildChild!

Learn to shoot the ball Vandy. Tougher when there is a real defense playing you. Taking a charge is a lost art in basketball. Knight’s teams were masters. You just got outcoached and outsmarted. And shot lousy from 3 point range and did not go hard after key loose balls near the end. Fouls in the game were 17 vs 16–hardly unfair. Wah wah wah.

barrons- you aren’t seriously trying to say that the don’t flop, are you? Wisconsin is KNOWN all across the Big Ten for it! Hey- it works! You also must not have seen pictures of the last foul against Ezeli that wasn’t called. No question Vanderbilt’s shooting was off and other mistakes were made. We didn’t play well enough to beat Wisconsin AND the refs!

There are fouls potentially callable on nearly every series. The refs were letting them play and you adjust to what the refs are doing. Where is it said outside Vandy crybabies that Wisconsin is known for flopping or whatever you call taking a charge?
People try to make all kinds of excuses for losing to Wisconsin because they don’t look like most big-time basketball teams. You don’t win 298 games and over 70% in the Big Ten just by knowing the charge rule. They have beaten better teams than Vandy without all the crying from the losers. If your guys could hit a critical shot you might win. He missed. You lost. Your team shot lousy. Defense helps win games. And this is not even a really good Badger team. They just know how to win.

They really aren’t very good, but they DO know how to flop (i.e. cheat). Congrats! Wish them well.

Speaking of crybabies- the coach and entire Wisconsin bench rose up and complained about EVERY call against Wisconsin and anything they thought should have been called against Vandy. Charming.

Very sad you look for excuses when your team could not shoot worth a crap–best players were 7 for 25. You have a very weird idea of what constitutes cheating. Maybe if you get into the big-time more often you will get used to whining less and winning more. Stallings has a losing conference record in a so-so conference. Maybe he needs to coach better.

Just when I thought your comments were meant to be mean spirited, barrons, I stand corrected. Calling the SEC a so-so conference is obviously meant to be comical.
