Wow, 10-0 run to win.

Yeah they pulled it out.

I was not impressed with my Big 10 teams today.

Charles Barkley as much as said MI and IL will lose tonight. I hope he is wrong.

IU has been giving me heart attacks in basketball since 1970! Very cool down the final stretch. Ohio State came close to ruining my brackets, too, but I’m still very much alive.

That IU game was way too close for me. I was a student and a grad student during the last two championships. DS is a freshman. I’m hoping he gets to have that experience.

Go Big Ten!

romani–there’ve been some close games, but the B1G keeps pulling it out!

Well, just about all of my Cinderellas are back in the ashes without having danced with the Prince. And my big hope, Kansas State, didn’t have it. But my no.1, Louisville, is still in, so far. On the other hand, if I had known that Tubby Smith was now coaching Minnesota, I would have picked them to finish higher.

Florida Gulf Coast… my new favorite team. Their sheer athleticism is crazy! Feiler, Brown, Comer, McKnight…Who are these kids? Feiler’s whole arm was practically above the rim on a dunk last game. Look out Gators! Should be a fun game to watch.

Loved, loved, loved the FGC game. I don’t know anything about them, but I do love a good underdog story. So much fun for those athletes!

You mean MN, not MI. right? Michigan (MI) won by 25 over VCU yesterday and was the first team to advance to the Sweet 16. Minnesota (MN) lost today and looked ugly in the process, but that’s been their whole season, hot and cold. Illinois is in a close one v. a highly touted Miami team at the half, but even if Illinois goes down, the Big Ten will have 4 teams in the Sweet 16, better than any other conference, and a collective 10-3 record in NCAA tournament play. Pretty dominant, IMO.

I’m still rooting for FGCU. I think they prove that fun is the key to success.

The Univ of Florida vs FGCU game should be a barnburner. FGCU’s campus is located in the Florida Everglades…FGCU has experience dealing with gators.

Isn’t FGCU just outside Ft. Myers?

bc-
Yes, MN, not MI. He was right about them. I’m biting my nails watching IL now!

Well, they fought to the end. B1G will have 4.

Eh… we kinda knew that IL and MN would drop off. That’s OK. We’re still doing great!

Yes, the FGCU campus is east of Ft. Myers and I-75 in the sticks. The lower 1/3 of the Florida peninsula is the Everglades…not to be confused with the Everglades National Park. Much of the Florida Everglades has been developed…Ft. Myers, Naples, and Miami are all actually in the Everglades.

So the B1G started out with 7 teams in the round of 64, roughly 1/9 of the teams in the tournament.

Of the 7, 6 advanced to the round of 32, so roughly 1/5 of the teams in that round.

Now 4 advance to the Sweet 16, exactly 1/4 of the teams at that level.

I’m predicting 3 of those 4 will advance to the Elite 8, or 37.5% of the teams at that level.

An impressive showing by the nation’s premier basketball conference.

Major conference representation in the Sweet 16: B1G 4, Big East 3, ACC 2, PAC 12 2, SEC 1, Big 12 1. Others: Atlantic Sun 1, Atlantic 10 1, Missouri Valley 1.

Fascinating. ;)

That is actually wrong. It is even more boring than the uber-dreadful opening ceremony in London.
