march scores: possibly sway my chances?

obsessed with both NYU and Oberlin…(also like Washington U. in St. Louis, Wesleyan, Vassar, Bard, U Mich…any thoughts?)

junior at 2nd best public high school in state
GPA (weighted): 4.25 to 4.3, depending on how rest of the year goes…(significant improvment…4.138 from frosh/soph year, 4.5 so far for junior year)…however 4.3 is out of 5.0 scale (if honors are taken) therefore a 4.3 = approx. a B+ average

SAT I’s: March exam got a 2110 total (780 writing, 720 critical reading, and 610 math) - retaking in may and working to raise math to at least a 650

SAT II’s: Literature (700)…plan on taking Biology (expecting 700+) and either math or spanish (650+)

sorry i know my information has been long, i could really use your help if you have the time

Looks like you are on track for the schools on your list. Try to visit over the summer or in early fall if possible to narrow things down. A tip about U Michigan: they are rolling admissions and they fill their class fast so it is to your advantage to apply early in the fall (October even). I’d say U of Michigan is a decent safety for you but I would recommend you add at least one more good bet school to your list just in case. Since you seem to like LACs, it would be good to add an LAC that you have a solid shot of getting into.

Look at Skidmore if you wish to continue to ride in college.

do you go to lexington or weston or something?

carolyn – how do you feel about my chances at NYU (CAS) specifically? Unless i find that i prefer Oberlin to NYU when i visit it in May (and yes i am aware of how different my two choices are…haha), then i will most likely be applying ED to NYU come november. however, the statistics on NYU tend to be contradictory, there are people from my school who got accepeted and attended with GPA’s ranging from 3.6 to 4.9 (on a 5.0 scale), and i can’t get a definite feeling about NYU’s actual level of difficulty or my personal chances. Any help you can offer would be fabulous, you definatly seem to know what you’re talking about.

Buuuuuuumppp
