<p>First thing this morning I received a phone call from a friend and an email from a different friend telling me about this book called “And One More Thing Before You Go.” The author is Maria Shriver and is specifically geared toward girls going off to college. I ordered two, one for my D and one for a friend’s D, just based on the excerpt I read on the internet. I haven’t read it but think it might be a great graduation gift for girls. Has anyone read it yet?</p>

<p>Considering in California that it is getting more difficult to get into college, the major problems with our education, the turning on the teachers, if you are going to criticize anyone, look at the husband…he has done little to help with education here, so until then, I can’t support the wife’s book. Reeks of hypocrisy SHe chose him, didn’t chose her relatives. Oh, yeah, to get ahead, its okay to take drugs… : )</p>
<p>My favorite Howie Carr (local talk radio guy) segment ever - I name the crime, you name the Kennedy who committed it. The game went on for at least an hour…unbelievable the number of crimes committed by that family.</p>
<p>I read the book in a store today (which took about 10 minutes–it’s short!). Very trite and gooey; my girls would gag, especially since they’ve never heard of Maria Shriver and would probably find the grinning photo on the cover vaguely creepy.</p>
<p>I have no respect for that woman, she lives off her family name, lets her husband “burn” the childrens clothes when he doesn’t approve of them. That family is a hypocritical sham. The Governor is a bum and a liar…he promised not to underfund education and he has yet to allow proposition 98 funding level to be achieved. He is anti-education and takes a day off for every four that he shows up for.</p>
<p>He tried to hold a rally for support this week and only 150 people showed up to hear actor (if you can call him that,) Tom Arnold praise the Governor and NPR reported that the majority of them were paid republican legislative staffers. He is totally owned by special interest business people who pay $10,000 a plate to make sure the advantage goes to business.</p>
<p>She tolerates his bad behavior which shows little respect for women or children.</p>

<p>I read the book today while having lunch at B&N. It probably was better as a speech, for which it was intended. Although, Ms. Shiver gives some good advice even as a mother I found it to be a little to hokey. Im glad I read the book in the store and didnt spend the $13.95.</p>
