Marist College Class of 2024 EA Discussion

Son was accepted with $7.5k scholarship. 1280 SAT, 3.5 (UW) GPA, lots of honors and AP courses. Working towards Eagle rank.

Son got big envelope with acceptance in mail today. Applied EA on August 15.
Presidential scholarship. Comp Sci major. 4.13 GPA, 1470 SAT. AP’s, work, etc.

Congratulations! Did you visit the campus? Interview? Thanks!

$17,500 Merit Award per year, 1400 SAT, 33 ACT.  Marist recently put up it’s 2020-2021 Estimated Freshman Cost of Attendance.  You can see the break down of costs here at https://www.marist.edu/admission/undergraduate/fin-aid/tuition-fees.  It’s a 5.65% increase from last year, but judging by what I’m reading here so far compared to last year’s College Confidential discussion, Marist didn’t raise their Merit Awards at all this year.

Accepted to the business school with a Presidential scholarship. 4.1 GPA, 1350 SAT, varsity athlete with a lot of other extracurriculars/leadership.

Congrats to all accepted!

Got in yesterday with big red envelope in the mail. Accepted with 17.5K merit aid. 1430 / 3.7 UW / 4.2 W / 8 APs

Their site says the presidential scholarship ranges between 5k-25k but so far the max we’ve seen here is 17.5k. Has anyone else gotten a higher award?

You are right about the price increases… looks like they are unfortunately changing their strategy to a higher sticker price (like most other colleges). When we looked at Marist a few years ago with eldest, the price was a full 10k less than most other colleges. Now it appears to be closer to a 6-7k difference.

Thanks suzyQ7. Take a look a last year’s Early Action discussion for Marist Class of 2023…http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/marist-college/2110115-marist-college-ea-class-of-2023-p7.html The maximum merit award last year was also 17,500 (which was higher than the previous year). A few months ago I was using the Marist Net Price Calculator, and I would enter Ivy League type stats just to see what it would take to receive more than 17,500 merit.  Nothing changed the 17,500 merit unless you checked off that you are the Valedictorian, and then bingo, you get 25,000. Hey Marist can do what they want, but it’s seems obvious that they raised tuition but froze merit this year, which is of course, net net bad for us.

International student here. Just wondering… When does Marist notify you on possible financial aid? And also, after acceptance, do I have to send something? On their portal it says that I’m missing 3 documents (Identification, Bank Statement, and Declaration of Finance), but I’m not sure whether I need to send it now or later.

Has anyone heard about any of the Freshman Experiences (either Dublin or Florence)? My DS was accepted to Marist but also applied to one of the Freshman Experiences but he hasn’t heard about those. I imagine that means he wasn’t accepted to that program?

My son received his acceptance by email/portal around Christmas, but no actual mail and no merit/financial information. Does anyone know if that is unusual, should we have received a letter and/or any merit info? Thank you

That is strange. My daughter received her acceptance through the old school big envelope with the formal acceptance letter. Enclosed was a folder with information including her merit scholarship information. I have read previously on this thread I believe, or else where, that Marist isn’t as up to date as other schools with the portal thing. So that is strange. I don’t even know if my daughter’s acceptance appears on her portal…( I don’t think she has even checked it).
I do know that Marist is having a reception for early accepted students by regions. Our’s is January 15th.

@ccrb Are you mistaken about the portal? There are no decisions on my D’s portal, nor on her friend who was deferred. Both got “snail mail” decisions only.

@elfie321 How did you hear about the reception? We are in MA and haven’t gotten anything about it.

Portal is not updated with a decision. Letters were set via mail. Not sure when financial aid info will be sent.

Received EA acceptance letter in mid December. However, no mention of financial aid or scholarships. Which makes me worry since many of the EA applicants in this thread mention the receipt of various scholarships. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Merit was included in acceptance letter, if applicable. Financial aid is sent separately, but I’m not sure when that occurs

My son received his financial aid package in the mail on Saturday. It’s the first one he’s gotten so I have nothing to compare it to. Was hoping for more…

Hi, We haven’t been able to log into the Financial Aid portal (which is different than the Admissions portal). I called admissions and financial aid and they said we should have credentials that they mailed, but unfortunately we can’t find them. We are going to have to send a picture of her photo id to get her credentials re-set. We are still looking through the piles and piles of mail from colleges. Can anyone else describe what they received to log into the FA portal? We’re reluctant to email a picture of her driver’s license. Thanks so much!
