Well, people have posted about the UCSD colleges, and I don’t think there’s one for Marshall, so I wanted to know: what are pros/cons of Marshall?

Bump. Blaahh.

Pros: Best food on campus (late night breakfast burritos :)), pretty good location, decent GEs.
Cons: DOC (the writing program) is bad but they are redoing it next year so who knows, the dorms are kind of oldish

i would like to know more…!

Marshall here :).

Ok:

Pro’s:
-Really nice area. It’s one of the closest colleges to the beach
-Compared to other colleges, reasonable GE’s
-Open late dining (till 1am), plus one of the better dining halls for food quality.
-apparently really nice apartments
-It’s alot better looking (IMO) than Revelle, Muir, and Sixth
-Nice suites.

Cons:
-I have to mention the writing course DOC. It is a terrible program in my opinion. The 3rd class of the program, Imagination, is probably the most related to an actual English class. The 1st class, Diversity, was basically sociology class. The 2nd class, Justice, is the worst of the three in my opinion. It is pretty much intro to Law school where you study cases and their principles and learn to do Legal writing which (according to TA’s) is completely different than expository writing. Grading system seemed a little unfair for this class… at least with my TA
-I don’t know about the other colleges but this one seems to have pretty strict RAs
-Easy to get caught when you are too loud
-Far from the University Center, not as far as some others, but still far. I recommend a bike or a longboard.

I’ll post when I think of more.
