Marshall University-Ms Forensic Sc

Hello all,

Sorry in advance, this will be a long read, i hope you can help me anyway

I’m an international student from Italy and I’ve been looking for a graduate course in the US for a while now. The latest addiction to my list of universities is Marshall.
I read it’s one of the best in forensic Sc; is it correct?

It has a lot of Pros:

-GRE and TOEFL scores are quite low. I know it’s very selective, 20 students per year, and for that reason I thought they’d require top scores but…no. So I could give it a try

-It offers 4 tracks and the great thing is that a student can choose more than one, even all 4. It’s about you and the work load you’re willing to take. I’d like to take 2 (DNA analysis and Crime Scene Investigation) but the question is: do I have to pay twice? On the website it doesn’t say; the only things they say are:

 • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
 • Demonstrate overall good academic standing, i.e., no current probationary status, not more than two C’s, and no grades of less than C in required courses
 • Be approved by the Graduate College Dean to exceed 15 credit hours per term, if applicable
 • Be approved by the Financial Aid Office to exceed the 54 credit hour limit, if applicable

-The costs aren’t excessive considering that housing is included

-The offer an internship period after the first year and then OPT (HUGE pro for an International Student)

CON:

-Huntington…is kind of a desolate place, no cities nearby except Charleston.
I was thinking that if a University is located in a major city the opportunities for a student grow. For example George Washington Uni in DC or John Jay College in NYC. But I don’t know, maybe it doesn’t mean anything, you have to tell me.

So the big questions are:

1) Is Marshall good for Forensic Sc.?

2)Could the location be a limitation for the future of a student?

3) What do you think about my three other choices:
-George Washington Uni
-John Jay COllege of Criminal Justice
-University of New Haven

Thank you very much

Nada huh? too bad
