Master List of safeties schools

People always seem to be asking about safeties, so lets make a master list of good safeties for “Mr CC”, the typical CC poster. Lets assume 2150+ SAT, 720+ SAT II, 3.7+ UW GPA, great ec’s, good/great recs:

everytime someone posts, copy paste the list so all the schools can be listed in the last post. Ill start.

Boston University

University of Washington

BU is a safety, albeit a horrible safety net to fall back on, but is a safety for only the top and most overqualified canidates. 2150 and 3.7 GPA do not fit that profile. I’d say 2400 black/latino male, first generation, valedictorian from Dorcester could call BU a safety, but no average CCer.

Boston University

University of Washington

U Wisconsin

Indiana U
5.U Illinois

I think this is stupid. Most people are just too lazy to look for safeties.

I’m going to cross off both of your and say lets only list sure bets:

For Boston Bound CCers:

Simmons College

Lesley University

Suffolk University

New England Safeties:
4. Hampshire College
5. Bennington College
6. Worcester Polytechnic Institute
7. University of Vermont
8. University of New Haven
9. Roger Williams University
10. University of Maine
11. University of New Hampshire
12. St. Anselm College
13. Springfield College

Continued List:
14. U Wisconsin
15. Indiana U
16.U Illinois

Miami of Ohio

trinity is a joke to get into if you go to private school, that’s the safety for everybody at my school.

Which Trinity do you mean? If you mean Trinity College in Hartford, I would disagree. I know at least one private school girl in my area last year whose number 1 choice was Trinity and was very upset to get turned down. It’s not as tough as some of the other schools in its conference like Amherst, Willimas, etc. but it can’t be taken for granted.

trinity in hartford, its the backup for all the kids at my school. never seen a kid at my school get turned down, it’s everybody’s easy backup.

Arcadia U, Alfred, U. of Puget Sound, Kalamazoo

although safeties aren’t the same for everyone as its based on your stats and everything , I would say

Kalamazoo, Purdue, Loyola Chicago

I cannot believe people think UIUC and Michigan are safeties… ***?

Average Unweighted GPA of 3.9 ?!!?! Yea really easy to get in.

More like 3.75 but I get your drift and agree in the broader sense.

<a href=“Office of Budget and Planning”>Office of Budget and Planning;

well i got in uiuc business with a 3.37uw, lol… (acutally not that funny)

Northeastern.

Northeastern is a false safety, statistics lie, it has one of the nation’s largest applicant pools (Top 5 -bigger than Harvard’s) and CCer’s really need to stop considering it a back up school. Pretty soon, it’s getting more competitive and will soon be at the level of Tufts and BU. I see a lot of “Tufts Syndrome” letters of rejections from Northeastern in the coming years.

Look at Northeastern’s avg. SAT, etc.

It is rising in the rankings, but right now it isn’t a hard admit.

EDIT-Yes, it’s pool may be bigger than Harvard’s, but quantity doesn’t constitute quality: many of the candidates are far inferior to the candidates at Harvard (obviously).

Quantity means more rejects, and its harder to standout. It isn’t that hard of an admit but hey, the avgs. are an average for admission between the six schools which have their own average, an assumption the CCers make, and two, I could say with a 1450 that BU was my safety, but that would be stupid!

Miami University (ohio)
