masters in mathematics of finance perhaps

okay so the deal is: i am currently a junior at cornell university. i def want to do a masters program after my senior year, and am looking at something finance related. now in terms of gre, i am assuming i would take the gre general test and gre subject test in math? also, in terms of admissions for masters programs at the top schools, columbia, cornell, etc, how difficult is it? i am actually just starting to research grad school, and just needed a starting point guiding me somewhere.

any help is much appreciated.
regards

You will almost certainly have to take the GRE general. The Math subject test may not be necessary for Master’s programs (it is not required at Columbia for example).

Admission to “top tier” programs in any subject is highly competitive. You’ll want to talk with your professors (you’ll need 3 LORs anyway) to determine the best programs for you.

Finally, take a look at the first couple pages of the “Graduate School Admissions 101” thread pinned to the top of this discussion group. It has answers to just about all the basic “mechanics of applying” queestions you’ll have.
