Congratulations
They’re very different so you can look at whatever criteria matter to you, at this point there’s no wrong choice - for instance, St Olaf is stronger in STEM and Quantitative Economics, Rollins in Business, Latin American Studies/Spanish, Marine Biology; if you want balmy Winter weather Rollins wins hands down, if you don’t mind COLD and snow or dislike tropical weather St Olaf wins (but I think Rollins wins this one ); St Olaf is semi “dry”, Rollins has, err, anything you want to party with…
St Olaf’s actual coa is 5k higher than the npc estimate, so it looks like they are meeting need while Case Western and Northwestern aren’t.
I definitely love rollins now. Never, in my wildest dreams, did I think Rollins will be affordable and not Northwestern
That is a surprising outcome! Is St Olaf affordable, and if so, are you leaning Rollins anyway?
I am especially disappointed in NU’s willingness and lack of transparency in figuring out why their NPC was significantly different than their FA offer. Seems like something they would want to know
The person who spoke to me was also surprised. He also said the coa does look high for our family income. He verified the npc, tax returns and CSS and said there was little to no difference. He himself was quite confused and asked me to specifically mention the fact that this is 50% of our family income in our appeal
Okay, everyone. Got released from my ED contract with Northwestern. A bit disappointed, but nevertheless, thanks for all the support. I still don’t know what is driving the npcs up, but it is probably the fact that my place of residence is not the US. I have Rollins as a great option, along with a few great Indian universities that have accepted me.
Very disappointing for Northwestern, both in their inability to explain the situation and for you more generally. At least you know you got into that university.
Are there still some decisions up in the air?
