Match an Indecisive Engineering girlie from CA who's ready to make the most killer college list ever! [CA Resident, 4.0, $40k, Engineering]

Question again about Blue & Gold for whoever can answer; Is it normal to receive blue & gold at some UC campuses and not other’s? I was recently accepted to UCLA and on the financial aid package there was no indication that I qualify for blue and gold, but for UCSD and UC Davis I did. I was under the impression that Blue & Gold was a system-wide thing, is it actually based on each individual campus’s different eligibility criteria? I’m very confused.

Some campuses may label some of the financial aid as Blue and Gold Opportunity and some campuses may just breakout each scholarship/grant awarded by name and not list it under the Blue and Gold Opportunity plan.
This is what the UC website states:

The plan combines all sources of scholarship and grant awards you receive (federal, state, UC and private) to go toward covering your tuition and fees. Note: Campus fees and summer tuition and fees are not covered.

Edited: Some posters have stated that the Blue and Gold Opportunity plan may show up later on UCLA’s financial aid package so be patient.

Ah I see I see. Hopefully they can update it before commitment day haha. I wonder if it has to day with the extended FAFSA deadline because of the LA Fires. Thank you for the breakdown!

As stated, the Blue and Gold opportunity plan is combination of State, Federal and UC and private grants and scholarships so if you are eligible for Pell grant, Cal grant, UC grants etc… that is all part of the Blue and Gold Opportunity plan and it just may not be labeled that way on your FA package.

Accepted to Harvard and Yale today!! I understand people saying “go for Berkeley” bc EECS is better there but oh my GOD my financial aid packages for both schools (esp harvard) is just crazy, I’ll need to seriously consider it.

Can you summarize your admissions with their net prices?

Always go for the best finances. Harvard + great financial aid >> Berkeley. With financial aid, I would recommend Harvard over Yale for CS.

HUGE Congratulations, and Good luck!

they are two totally different schools with totally different feels. Go to Visitas and Bulldog Days. Have not met a kid that says they liked them the same.

Hey! Just wanted to let you all know after visiting a lot of colleges and deciding to trust my gut, I’ve decided I’ll be committing to Harvard! Roll crimson!

Congrats! First lesson: do not say “Roll Crimson!” That’s an Alabama thing(Roll Crimson Tide or Roll Tide).

Say “Go Crimson!”

Again, big congratulations!

Congratulations, and have a great four years!! BTW, Boston/Cambridge is a great town - my kid is just wrapping up two years working in Cambridge and really enjoyed her time there. She was living on a lab-tech salary, so she had lots of fun on a shoe-string budget.

Have lots of fun, learn a lot, and do great things!
