Please help with input in deciding between these 3 schools:
Western Kentucky University
MTSU
Tennessee Tech
Will live on campus, looking for supportive environment, supportive teachers, academic accommodations, soccer club/club sports.
Ideally, a diverse school that is open minded.
Undecided major but possibly sports management or international/global affairs. Would like to study abroad. Concerns are more based on finding the right fit than financial.
To help us help you more effectively, would you be ok answering these questions:
Are you a rising senior asking for Fall 2027 or a transfer asking for Fall 2026?
What’s instate for you? (Guessing Tennessee or Kentucky?) Are you considering any other region?
What budget have your parents decided on?
If you’re a rising senior what courses are you taking next year?
Wrt Admissions all three would be good matches.
I can’t speak to the accomodations but hope someone can.
The most efficient pathway to a sport management career, AFAIK, is a regular Management or Business major in a city with major sports OR a university with D1 or a winning team where you can intern.
Have you looked into UT Chattanooga? U Cincinnati? (What about ULouisville? Sure, it’s a reach, but strategic senior year course choices and your ACT27 would help, even more so if you can retake it and improve, even if by just one point.)
For international/global affairs WKU has a topnotch Critical Language Flagship (designed to be combined with any major and can be coordinated with ROTC).
In any case you’ll need strong math skills as well as language skills so make sure to add to your senior schedule the highest level of whatever world language you’ve been studying till now. (Spanish if interested in soccer and baseball, French if interested in soccer, hockey, basketball?) Are you taking a Precalculus or Calculus class senior year? Any chance you could take AP Stats?
For a definite reach Centre College could work - they guarantee study abroad and internship, meet full need, have Business and are really strong on Global Affairs, have the environment&vibe you’re looking for.
I think you need to talk to each of the three about their support services.
Given your two majors, you also need to find one that fits.
Tech has a Sports Management major in Exercise Science but is the curriculum what you want. I don’t see an International Studies.
So go through the curriculum of each but also talk to each school’s support team to see what works and if none work, expand - you have Murray State not far, UT Martin and UT South which is a small campus and might work better than the big behemoths that WKU and MTSU are. You might look at Chatt and ETSU too. Even N Alabama and UAH aren’t far if none of those work.
