@modnari-v1 could you please clarify which geographic areas of this country you are interested in? This will help us recommend colleges that are of interest to you…and not places where you really would prefer not to go.
I’m not positive you can accurately determine any of the above. Most colleges have a great quality of education. Return on investment is in the eyes of the beholder.
What other factors do you think put one school above another? I will opine…if it’s the USNews rankings, that might not be the best way to make this determination.
You should look at Rice - very STEMy, very nice collaborative student body, no greek life, etc. I think it would be a good match. I would also look at WashU & Emory - both have a lot of premeds but have excellent Bio/STEM departments, lots of research opportunities and very nice and collaborative student bodies (especially WashU.) Also look into Duke and Vanderbilt, although those are a little more greek-y, but you can definitely find people who are not, particularly in the STEM or engineering majors. I understand what you mean by the grind of UChicago and JHU, and I would include CMU and even Berkeley in this group (and even Stanford - have you heard of Duck Syndrome?)
