Schools
No clue, looking to ED realistic reach school

Why do you need to ED anywhere?

Why don’t we figure out what you want in a school.

Have you visited any ?

Do you have a size preference - large, small, medium

Environment - urban, rural, suburban

Weather

Big time sports ?

Big time greek ?

Do you have a business sub area of interest?

Do you have a budget ? Are you a resident of any US state for tuition purposes ?

Many top schools require a test again. Do you have a score ? If so, what is it - perhaps better than you think

You needn’t ED to get into a fine school. In the grand scheme of things, most don’t.

You need to apply to schools that fit you. Let’s help you find some.

Given your stats they likely won’t be the biggest names. But I would recommend you talk to your school counselors to get a feel for where Luke students have gotten accepted.

Thanks.

Almost no preference for schools other than a smaller student population

No budget and not applying aid

Did not take test - not good in a standardized test setting

I would a reach/target school because I will be applying to less competitive schools in Canada which are cheaper

Any insights?

Sorry typo* I would ED a reach/target school because I will be applying to less competitive schools in Canada which are cheaper

I still go back to talk to your counselor and how is it you’re ok in NYC (Fordham) and the middle of nowhere.

Still don’t know your study preference - ie which sub discipline.

I’d say - based on GPA - but again, you might be at a rock star school and I could be under shooting - so talk to the folks there - and not sure you need to ED:

American
Babson
Bentley
Lehigh
Richmond
SMU
TCU
Wake Forest
W&L
W&M

The three easiest in my opinion and excellent all around are Bentley, SMU, and TCU. Bentley I’m guessing happens. It’s a business focused school with cross register at others. Outstanding outcomes.

How does your primary sport figure into your college plans? It seems to be very important to you. Is it still? Do you want to continue in college? Is it a sport that has recruiting? Can you name the sport? (It is unlikely to identify you, but if it will, don’t).

Agree on these three, especially Bentley. Wanted to just point out that the OP should not ED to SMU because they don’t guarantee admission to Cox. TCU may be the same issue.

OP-If you really like a small school and don’t mind rural, I might consider an ED to W&L. It’s a big reach but an excellent business program with that small boarding school feel. I would definitely visit though before making that decision, it’s not a school for everyone.

W&L sounds like a great school but I have become recently interested in bates because of their student pop, do you think it would be worth it for me to ED there?

Have you visited Bates ?

EDing anywhere without visiting is foolish. What if you don’t like it upon visiting? You’d be stuck four years if you got in.

Attending a school that does not offer your desired major seems sort of pointless. To me.
W&L is a top b school.

What is student pop ?

You could look into BC and Villanova - they are mid-sized and your UW gpa is in range for students I know that have been accepted at those ED. Of the two, BC is more competitive and would be more of a long-shot. The issue at most LAC’s is that they aren’t going to have business (there are some exceptions) so if business is your desired major, those aren’t going to work for you.

*Student Population

From what I’ve researched, W&L has a great business school and campus but is not very diverse and generally conservative

I have asked my brother about Bates and he talks highly of the school

I know Bates does not offer my desired major but offers my top sport, Alpine skiing and although I don’t plan to be recruited for my sport I would like to have the choice of deferring to get good enough to make the team

Fyi, W&L is as diverse as any other comparable LAC, including Bates. Just for the record. But it most certainly doesn’t have alpine skiing (and may not be a good fit for you, I was just clarifying). If you are thinking of those schools, why not Middlebury?

Both appear to be on the less diverse side compared to colleges overall, though Bates is less diverse than WLU for SES, while WLU is less diverse than Bates for race and ethnicity.

I once did a comparison of LACs and diversity, and both are not outliers. Don’t compare LACs to all schools, that’s not really a fair comparison. With the exception of Amherst, most LACs are in the same general vicinity, diversity-wise.
