Here’s the catch. I am a California resident but I am attending an OOS (ASU). How will this affect my chances even though I graduated from a California High School and live in California. Tbh I don’t think any of the UC’s are safety since I am applying CS/CE and attend an OOS university. Applied to ALL UC’s EXCEPT MERCED.
Unfortunately, you will be considered OOS for transfer admissions purposes. This pool of candidates is very low priority for transfer admissions in the UC system in general, and your major(s) even more so.
If your parents reside here in California, and if you attended a high school for three years in California, you won’t lose your residency status because you went out of state for school. I am assuming that your parents are still in California and are still paying taxes?
Because you’re an out-of-state transfer, however, your priority isn’t like a California community college student. In other words, a transfer from another university, that isn’t in California, won’t be prioritized like the CCC’s and local universities, but as a resident, you still have a bit of an advantage. All you can do is apply to CS which is impacted. However, the good thing is that your GPA has held up high in a very difficult major. Apply and see and good luck!
I agree with @aunt_bea assessment. You have a competitive GPA so that will help your chances. Although this data is specific for CCC to UC transfers and from 2022 (2023 data should be available in the next few weeks), it will give you an idea of your chances based on the admitted GPA range for major and campus.
I didn’t say they would lose their residency status for tuition if they get accepted. But they are put in the pool of transfer applications from OOS colleges. As stated here:
