Finances
Our budget is <50k for reach/target schools. UDel is my backup where I qualify for in-state as well as merit-based scholarship.

Please match me with decent schools on the east coast, preferably good targets. I have many reaches and a few safeties, so what I’m looking for are some colleges that match me realistically.

OP’s other thread here: Chance Me for Princeton, Tufts, and Purdue 25-26! [international in Delaware, 4.0 GPA, top 1%, 1550 SAT, <$40k]

Nothing to add except the budget increased.

We don’t know your ‘need’ component but you can try UNC, UVA,W&M as all have need aid (if you qualify).

Otherwise look at schools that hit but would you choose over UDel? All will have more math offerings than you’ll ever need. Most/all will have some sort of operations or supply chain.

Binghamton

UMASS

U of SC

UGA

UF

Alabama ($22k all in)

Michigan State - highly ranked in OPs Research/ Supply Chain

Ohio State

UTK - likely - strong in OPs

Can take full ride Hail Mary shots at Emory, Vandy, WUSTL…more for math.

Some schools assure need for intl students. Some need nlind, most need aware.

Are you full pay or have need ?

UMD would be great here but not budget friendly.

RPI will likely be in budget with merit aid.

I would need some aid for schools that have sticker prices around 70-80k. Their international aid policies, no matter how harsh, will give me minimal aid based on my financial situation, and then I will have to make a call on whether it’s affordable. But I have at least 2 backups that will very likely be way below our budget.

it’s hard to find schools $70-80K - they’re above or.

Why not apply to schools that are within your budget…and I suggested others.

Whether you’d go over UDEL is what you’d have to decide.

$70-80K - UMD would be FANTASTIC - strong in both. It would beat that - …

Stony Brook has a really special Applied Math program, and you can do a concentration in Operations Research if you like:

I note as they explain there, usually people who go into Operations Research are going to have a Masters, and Stony Brook has an accelerated Masters.

Stony Brook would be just above budget full pay OOS, but they do have merit so might come inside budget.

Thanks! Stony Brook’s program seems a great fit.
