Isn’t the amount required reduced if you have a financial aid offer or scholarship?

i was able to find one: Scholarships | Mississippi Valley State University

Your budget is going to limit where you go. At this point I don’t think the US would be affordable for you. If you were to attend a US university, you would be required to have certain items in place.

Medical insurance is required when you attend a US university. The cost of medical insurance will probably take 2/3 of your listed budget.

The US is known for having really limited medical coverage for its residents. In case of medical emergencies, international students will have to purchase this insurance, stateside. The university doesn’t provide it, so they will give you outside references for purchasing it.

So it’s not just about getting a full ride, you also need to be able to cover your bills.

I would agree that you would need to look at someplace other than the US, if you want a university education that is not in India.

Ig it’s not for international students :sob: but thanks

Where does it say that?

Yeah it says that students must complete FAFSA which can only be done by a us citizen only.

It seems they do say that, followed with “except international students”, which would imply international students can apply. You should email the college and ask.

Yeah but it’s an HBCU my parents won’t allow :sob:

Your parents should realize they shouldn’t turn their nose up at ANY U.S. school offering an international student a free ride.

You will be a desirable addition to the student body of an HCBU which is prepared to fund you.

Sadly, you are a “dime a dozen” at one of the better known (in India) universities, so your budget will knock most of them out.

Your parents need to understand how this works…

Well yeah but it’s gunna be extremely hard for me to convince my parents for an HCBU also Missisippi valley state university is quite low ranked too. Idk how will this affect my career.

It’s going to be hard to convince the US government on $14K in salary that you have enough money to survive here, even with a full ride.

This is not a given, even with a full ride.

Why would your parents expect something for free, that people that are citizens pay upwards of $100K for.

If someone is nice enough to offer you something for free, you can say no - your choice - but it’s certainly not beneath you.

Prospective F-1 or M-1 students must have the financial resources to live and study in the United States. This includes being able to cover the cost of tuition, books, living expenses and travel.

Then you’d be better off staying at one of the better known universities in India, surely?

Given that @shuklr will most likely be returning to India after graduation, that is worthy of serious consideration.

@shuklr - sponsorship isn’t easy, and given the current job market for new CS grads, it’s probably at least 10x harder now. I wouldn’t count on it.

My recommendation would be to focus on Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, since they won’t take your iGCSE results into account at all. Full rides are uncommon there - Waterloo has scholarships, UToronto has the Pearson, McGill only lets you apply once you’ve been admitted, other colleges may have scholarships too.. but worth a try.

if they cannot speak French or German, I could also suggest considering the Netherlands’ Unis like TU Delft and Twente, fairly good in my honest opinion.

And Utrecht. My nephew studied business there and got internships all over Europe. (He does have dual EU citizenship.) It was a great experience. I’m not sure if all or only some courses are taught in English.

University of Amsterdam also has a lot of classes taught in English.
