Schools
Looking for recommendations on creating a balanced list including dream, reach, and safety universities. Any advice on crafting this list based on my profile? Your insights are invaluable!

The issue with matching you, to a school in the US, is that your budget is going to affect and limit your choices.

It is very difficult for an international student to gain acceptance to a US university, especially when the major is an impacted area of study.

Additionally, it is extremely difficult to find funding to attend a US university because the costs have risen dramatically, so you would need to find a university to fully fund your costs of ~$60-$90K per year. This may or may not include travel and health care expenses. Most of a student’s funding comes from the admitting university, if they have it in their budgets. Colleges and universities have finite budgets, so, they are extremely picky about who they will fund (athlete, musician, artists, etc.)

Google “universities that meet COA for international students”.

Also, you need to find schools that are Test Optional.

(First generation to college is meant for domestic students.)

Well, this is another issue because you don’t have test scores and you wont have a Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, so the schools wont have any source of measurable data to support your preparation for the colleges.

Look for safeties in your country.

What scale is this on? How does this compare with other students in your high school?

There is no safety school in North America for an international student with a $15k/year budget. There is no “likely” school in North America for an international student with a $15k/year budget. You will need to have safeties elsewhere, probably in your home country.

Which universities in the US we might recommend will depend on how your stats compare with other students in your school system. You would need to be quite close to being the top student in your high school to have any realistic chance to get a near full ride to university in the US.
