I’ve been to Wake Forest. The greek life there is yuge. Like it dominates all of socializing. That’s not bad if you’re into it, but it can be suffocating.
You say that UMd is your safety school. I would give it another look. Some of the stats are better than Wake – and it’s much cheaper for a MD resident. The greek life is smaller and not as dominant. And you can get on the Metro to go into DC at any time. It may have everything you want.
